Developing a Strike and Spare System
This system involves spot bowling technique. If the floor marking you have doesn't include arrows, you will have to adjust the system to aim for pins.
- Learn the rationale of hooking the ball into the 1-3 pocket to increase the probability of getting a strike
- Move in the direction of the error - if the ball goes too far right, move the lateral point of origin to the right while continuing to use the second arrow from the gutter as the aiming point
- Practice throwing strikes at only the 1-2-3 pins with partner feedback and adjustments
- Learn the spare conversion system, making necessary adjustments to the lateral point of origin
Scoring Lessons
Participants will learn and practice different scoring situations, including the critical 10th frame rules.
- Practice different scoring situations as a class
- Partner and small group practice with sample games
- Bowl from 5th frame to 10th frame and score the game
- Special emphasis on scoring the 10th frame if a strike or spare is bowled

- Trade and grade cards for peer assessment
- Bowl an entire game in groups (maximum 4) and score it

The culmination of the program features competitive tournament play to apply all learned skills.
